Another NEW addition to our family.

Hopefully this is a temporary home for this baby chick that Hailey’s class hatched. I hope Grandma and Grandpa don’t mind a new addition to their brood of 26. The class is giving the chicks to their students and I thought we could take one since Grandma and Grandpa said they were going to get some new babies this spring. I mentioned taking more than one since my housekeeper said she wanted chicks too. I wan’t expecting them to give us the chick today. That was VERY quick. I hope we are ready for it. Maybe we can hold onto it til Easter. Hopefully she won’t get killed by the kids before then. . . She’s mighty noisy. The girls Named her Chase. Unless it was the kids at school. The moment we set her on the playroom floor she started chasing each of us.

The family is functioning.

I’ve been out and about getting groceries, hauling kids and running errands. Like usual.

Hailey’s teacher had her baby 5 days before mine and we are still trying to work out a good day for parent teacher conference.

Nathan and I got to go to Sierra’s PT conference on Tuesday. The only things she needs to work on are memorizing her address and “Having more fun” as the teacher put it. Really she just wants to do things right like when she is asked to draw something and when she doesn’t know how to draw it she gets worried and doesn’t want to try. So we will be working on saying “I’ll Try” when she is faces with a hard task. She does pretty well with all of it at home.

Zach is just a cool kid. Everything he does is just cool. There’s nothing girly about him. He’s a rough and tumble Fun kid. The other day he had the remote control in his hand and started bobbing his head up and down like he was just So cool. A couple days ago he found a harmonica. Nathan taught him how to play it and every time he gets his hands on it now, He plays the coolest Harmonica music – coolest for a 1 year old. Sometimes I’m not sure if it’s him playing or Nathan. I’ll have to get a video sometime. He loves putting things together like lids on containers, or shape sorters, still loves talking on the phone and pushing the buttons.

YESTERDAY Zach called his Unlce Aaron at work accidentally. We had no idea how. I was changing his diaper and handed him the phone. a few moments later I heard a lady talking so I said, “Hello” She said the name of the company she worked for. I recognized it as Uncle Aaron’s business. Then I explained that my son dailed the number and I was sorry. And to tell Arron S. we said hello. She said she thought it must have been a kid that dialed because she heard some beeping. Nathan and I grabbed the phone to find out how he managed to dial the number. It’s actually a number with 2 numbers and a lot of 1’s after is. So he could have dialed it on his own. We did find the number and it was the 40th one on the Caller ID list. I don’t think he had the phone long enough to get to #40 but he may have. It was very funny. Later we told Aaron about it. He said The receptionist walked up to him and asked what his last name was. When he confirmed it (He and Aunt Alice are having a baby boy soon) She told him his Son called him. Of course he was thrown back by it, and looked confused. The receptionist said you have a boy don’t you? Then he told the receptionist his son was still in the womb and couldn’t be making phone calls. She said well, your wife called and a boy dialed the phone. He still had no idea what she was talking about. Until later that night when we chatted with him and told him our side of the story. It was so funny, Nathan and I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.

Nathan and I got to go see Wild Hogs (the movie) just before Aurora was born. It was a really good movie. That was the “Date before the baby” Movie. He said he wanted to go see it again a few days after.

The new van is great! I’m getting used to all the bells and whistles and it’s AWESOME! I love the voice activation when you want to change the radio channel or the temperature the fan blows. It’s quite fun. and when I’m out somewhere I can just push the button, say GO HOME and the GPS map will pop up the most direct route to my home =) there are a bunch of other places I need to program in.

Nathan has been very sick lately. I have no idea what’s really wrong with him, but something must be really wrong because no 33 year old should be spending so much time in bed with headaches, feeling like his gut has been punched, and with his undiagnosed ulcers rumbling in his stomach so loud that I think he’s hungry all the time. He won’t see a doctor. So it drives me bonkers. I wish I could just fix it. Having a 16 month old, a newborn and a bedrest Daddy and 3 trips to the school everyday makes for a CRAZY Mommy. Last night I was so tired I almost started bawling because Aurora was crying. Put on that list, grocery shopping, diaper changing, Cooking – bulk hamburger and boiled eggs for dinner prep. Going to Church functions, shopping with neighbors at the Mervyns $2,4,6,8,10 sale to save money for clothing for the family, throwing a few things on eBay here and there etc. . .

Better run a poopy diaper needs to be undone.

The pictures are of Zach a few moments ago. This is how happy he is even with a stinky diaper, he’s smiling big for the camera and is happy to be playing in Auroras swing.

Look you you get. .

A NEW CAR. . . . . .

What Nathan surprised me with and picked me up from the hospital in.

He gave up his more sporty car his Audi A6 2.4 Quattro so his family can travel together in a Super Fancy “playhouse” of a van.

The color is more champagne gold than the picture. It’s a beauty! I may get to drive it someday – and maybe more than I ever wanted =)

Thank you Nathan! You got that QUICK!

Baby Aurora.

As Nathan and I walked in the hospital doors we were feeling like it was all surreal, like it wasn’t really happening. It was just after 6 in the morning and we checked in. Usually by this time in the pregnancy Nathan and I have been to the hospital in false or pre-term labor at least 2 times. By 6:45AM we were checked in and we headed up to LDR #7 – the closest to the nurses station. there were to be 6 inductions and 1 c-section on March 19th. I told the nurse I’d be the 1st to deliver of all of them. They started the pitocin at about 7:10 the 1st contraction came about 10 minutes later at 5 minutes apart then increased to 3 minutes apart. and were getting stronger pretty quickly. We asked for the epidural. I was concerned because the last one – the narcotics in it just made me itchy and made the labor worse than it needed to be. They reassured us that everything would better. I had to make sure it wasn’t the anesthesiologists 1st day on the job. – the nurse said if it helps at all she should have Micah give her an epidural because she trusted him so much – I see now why she said that – I don’t have any bruising or pain where the needle went in – like I did with Hailey and Zach.

SO. . . that all went well. The epidural set in. I could still move my tingly legs I knew she was getting closer about 1/2 hour in. We called the nurse over She called the doctor. She told me to lay still until he arrived. He made it over in record time and 4 hours exactly from the 1st contraction to 11:19 AM I labored and we had our little baby wrapped in swaddling clothes laying in a warmer. It took a mere 1 & 1/2 pushes. She was so little. My smallest baby. After the delivery my body went into shock. I was cold and shaky for quite a while and the nurse put a little nubane in my IV drip to make me more comfortable. It worked the shaking and chills stopped and I was finally able to hold Aurora without feeling like I was going to drop her.

The nurse told me I was the 1st to deliver. I won!. . . well the c-section probaby beat me, but the laboring mamas had nothing on me! As we drove to the hospital Nathan and I were talking about how I was a professional mother and it is my job. So in a sense man. . .I’m probably top talent in my field. When it comes to labor and delivery at least. Being a mom well, we could all use help here and there. I was watching statistics on how much more involved in our kids lives we are than 50 years ago when “the perfect mom” made everything for the kids. Now we can take shortcuts like food prep, clothes washing, sewing clothing, etc and we spend a LOT more time with our children than they ever did. They were so busy prepping food and sending kids out to play that the 1 on 1 time wasn’t necessisarily there. Now we are too afraid to send our kids out to play so we are the ones doing ALL the work. Kudos Mamas today! Especialy those that can get housekeepers or order their groceries online! Raising smart kids is a good thing.

Now if I can find time with a newborn and a 16 month old to help Sierra with her Math-Box, Maybe you can count me in as one of the good moms that spend tons of time with their kids.

Hailey was 6.8 Sierra 7.11 Zach 7.8 and Aurora 6.5 she dropped to 5.15 before we left the hospital and is vigorously working to regain those 6 ounces.

Recovery has been very nice. No painful stitches like Hailey. The nursing contractions are still pretty horrible, but will subside in the next day or so. I’m walking pretty well. The milk coming in has been engorging of corse, I’ve moved from “Torpedo” cup to “Jug” cup and can’t wait to get back to a C cup. I’m also getting a lot of the sleep I need with all of Nathan’s help.

We gave the kids some gifts to keep them entertained, make them feel special and told them they were from Mom, Dad and Aurora.

Hailey got a scooter almost like Sierra’s and now they can both go for rides together. We also gave her a Skip-it.

We gave Sierra a “Gazillion Bubbles” bubble machine and a 1/2 gallon of bubbles to go with it and a Skip-it.

Zach got some sidewalk chalk and the game Elefun – a little elephant that blows bows/butterflies into the air that you can catch with nets and keep refilling the elephant with.

Some things just in time for spring that they can spend hours with outside. They have already come in very handy.

Zach is getting to know Aurora and loves to hold her arm or her hand – maybe with a little more force than we like, but we are getting him used to her. Zach loves to be held so he fights for room on Mommy’s lap with Aurora. It works out pretty well most of the time.

Hailey and Sierra want to hold her quite a bit and can be big helpers when I have to take care of Zach or tasks around the house.

Aurora Elizabeth Stout

She’s here! Aurora was born on Monday, March 19th at 11:19 AM MDT. She is our smallest baby at 6 lbs 5 ounces and was delivered so quickly that both Dad and Mom were surprised and a little shocked; a great way to start! We will post more details later, but here are a few pictures for the curious.

BLESSING DATE TO BE CHANGED AGAIN!!! I THINK.

We will be missing some important people from here if we do Easter Sunday, so I’m going to have to re-schedule again.

Maybe we won’t schedule. and will just do it when all is well again.

I’ll call you and invite you in person.

Hopefully we will have time.

Mom and Dad, sorry to change your plans. We are going to have to push back if Grandma and Grandpa S are going to attend.

It’s all getting to be a little difficult. We will schedule around our own lives and not everybody elses. Hum. . .maybe when she’s 3 years old we can make it so everyone can be there. How about Easter Sunday 2010. Plan on it.

Don’t mind me. Just nesting around.
