News on the kids.
The girls have the rest of the week off school so we have been chilling at home. I’m making plans for the Lay Family reunion and trying to get an Itinerary together.
Hailey is thriving. She is above her class in Math an Reading so much that she (in 2nd) grade is doing division problems on the computer that she has to learn on her own because it’s not on the teachers curriculum. So Hailey gets frustrated that she’s getting 60% and not 80% on her scores. If she gets 80% she moves on. She earns a lot of candy from her teacher for completing all the levels she has been completing. She wants to keep moving on and learn so badly. I worked on her Collecting skills. now, instead of collecting junk off the playground, she earns and collects money so she can buy jewelry for her collection. Much better plan. no more bottle caps and foam BBs.
Sierra has been having a hard time hearing since February. I took her in for hearing tests and she Failed the Tuning fork test with an ear that seemed fine while the other passed and it had Fluid in it. After the Sound and speech hearing test she had a few drops below normal in pitches she was hearing and the tester lady told us to keep doing what we were doing with her. Speaking loudly, Repeating ourselves, and having the TV volume at 34 instead of 15. I didn’t know how much longer we all could take it. I think some of her speech is struggling because of the fluid. She speaks in a higher pitched voice like a baby vice more than she should. So we are getting tubes put in her ears June 18th. The surgery takes 1 hour, she will be asleep for it and the affects are immediate. Then within 8-12 months they will fall out on their own.
Zach is allergic to Peanut Butter
Last week I took Zach to an Allergist to test for allergies since he got hives the one time I gave him a PBJ sandwich. He tested Positive for Peanuts – which is an allergy that isn’t likely to be outgrown. . .so we all have to be careful not to give him peanut things. Unless we have benadryl, dymatapp, or his Epi-pen Jr nearby. Yes, the Dr. gave me a prescription for an Epi-Pen just in case his reaction ever becomes severe enough that his breathing is compromised. He was fine with just hives on his skin. . .maybe he can eat it. . .as long as he just puts it in his mouth. . .hum. . . I should test it after I fill his epi-pen prescription. And I want to try cooked peanut things like PB Cups, Recess Pieces, etc. Zach is actually in the 50% for his Noggin. 10th %tile for height and 20th for weight. Yep he’s a brainer just like his dad!
Aurora is getting bigger. She’s probably a little over 10 pounds now. Her Smile sometimes makes a little laughing sound behind it. She’s still pretty tiny for a 2 1/2 month old. But that’s just how our babies are. they stay around the 5th and 10th percentiles for just about everything. She’s still struggling with constipation. . .as all my girls have. Only hers seems worse. She just doesn’t poop. It’s nice to have to change wet diapers only but the vaporous gas the eliminates form the little soul is just unnatural. I’m going to move on to prune juice – when I remember to pick it up and see how that fairs. I hold Aurora every minute that I can. I’m pretty sure I’m spoiling her. I think she knows it too.
