After spending a few days with Lee Joe’s family and seeing my Mom. I took a trip to Aunt Gwens and stayed the night. The next day I got to see my Cousins Andy, Krishaun, and Laura. My kids got to play with second cousins just a little younger than them. we had a yummy lunch. Aunt Gwen made our traditional pancake and eggs breakfast. We can thank Sierra for having her start that tradition.
It was close to nap time for my cousins kids so only Andy was able to come with me to see the girls Great Grandma. Andy was my tour guide.
We got to Grams place. It was GEORGEOUS!!! brand new Assisted Living home for up to 15 residents and only 10 were there. It had gorgeous furnishings, kitchen, living room, and then her room was furnished with her things from home it had a kitchenette in it and sofa and plenty of chairs for company.
She visited with Andy for the 1st part. She had Andy fix her TV so she cold watch movies. The kids started getting restless and grandma just kept telling them not to get their sucker on the furniture or lean on the table she was more worried about her possessions than the company that came by to visit her. We finally had a few minutes to chat and she chatted about other people. She did ask one what we had been up to but then didn’t listen much to what I had to say. Andy was surprised that she didn’t fall asleep while we were there.
Andy took Zach and Aurora out to walk around. They had a really fun time visiting the other older ladies there. We gave gams hugs and tried playing yhatzee for a while. Grandma helped the girls for a bit with that. 2 nurses came in to draw blood and that didn’t make Grams feel any better. it just gave her things to complain about. The babies enjoyed sitting in her new wheelchair. Grams was using a walker to walk and uses the bathroom on her own still.
She was born in 1930. She had 6 kids my mon and then a different husband brought 5 boys for my mom to have siblings. My grandpa died when I was 12- that was 18 years ago. Grandpa Leonard Jack (Jack )was amazing. And more so, the more I learn about him. I’m sure she’s looking forward to seeing him again.
