Loads of fun! beside the Pumpkin walk and trip to the farms to pick out pumpkins

We went to the Church party.

They served chili, cornbread, doughnuts and root beer, Hailey won one of the candy Guess games By doing some “simple math calculations” played carnival games and THE FIRE ALARM WENT OFF!  Someone had a fog machine outside and the wind was blowing it into the building.  the carnival games came to a halt and eventually the firetruck came.  We all started setting up out cars for the trunk or treat in broad daylight it was very nice!  we used our Blow-up haunted house as the entrance and the bowl with the hand grabber over the candy.  It was really fun and quite simple  really, but WE WON a prize for having the coolest trunk to trick or treat at.  after it was over and Nathan was trying to close up he ended us plugging it in 2-3 more times because people just kept wanting to go thru if they missed their chance or they wanted a picture by it,  it was quite fun!

Aaron and Alice came over with Ethan we had Subway for dinner and The moms took the kids trick or treating while the Dads passed out candy.  There were lots of fun neighbors to visit 1 had a Dungeon party they served Kitty Litter Cake and Dirty Bath Water Punch, another served Hot Chocolate, and the last had a Hot Dog Roast over a fire pit I think almost all of us know each other since most of us go to church together.  It was a good time!

Aurora was a puppy with squeaky shoes, Zach a Thomas the train, Hailey was a witch, Sierra was Padme Queen Amidala from Star Wars.

St. Patty’s Day

Filed under: House, Irish Dance, Kids, Something Great, Tips, Tradition, Traditions — Tags: , — Devanie @ 11:50 am

As usual little leprechaun came by and turned out milk GREEN!!  But he also pulled all the green things in the fridge to the front so that’s the prominant color when the fridge is opened.

He also took Sierra’s Leprechaun she made isn school, off the fridge and moved him by the steps, and later onto the garage door.  it’s 1/2 way thru the day, I canonly imagine how many more times he will move the paper doll leprechaun.  Besiges that I have a Treasure hunt in mind.  I got the items, not I just need to put it together.  At the end they will get dessert – A BIG sugar Cookie with Green Shamrocks on it.  We will also be having a very Green Dinner , Cucumber, Green Grapes, Green Beans and Traditional Corned Beef and potatoes.

Sierra went to school with her curly Irish Dance Wig on and her headband.  Hailey didn’t want to be called a poodle so she chose to just wear the headband.

I got to see the video of the Parade.  I’ll find a way ASAP to post it on YouTube so you call can see.

Happy Saint Pattie’s Day to all my Lads and Lassies.  Enjoy a Wee Bit O’Me Irish Side today =)

FALL~Pumpkin Pickin’ & PumpkMan

Filed under: Uncategorized — Devanie @ 12:17 am

FALL & Halloween season are in FULL bloom.

The first thing we LOVE to do as a family is string SPIDER WEBS throughout the house. I don’t think I took a picture last year, but these are pics of this year.

Then go Pumpkin picking, hay rides, corn mazes etc.

This time we got to go with Uncle Joe and his kids. Nathan picked out the pumpkins head, the girls helped choose the body, I built the guy, Zach and Aurora got little pumpkins and we made cute little faces on them with a kit from wal-mart for $3.50 there were 4 animals. there is a monster set too, maybe the girls will want to use it. but more likely they will want to dig into the slime ;D

Zach was quite tired thru the whole pumpkin picking and ended up with a huge fever and just wanted me to hold him.  So that’s what I did, we went to visit the grandparents house and have dinner with Grandma and Grandpa nearby but ended up staying in for pizza.  It was great, we got to talk and I didn’t have to chase kids all over a restaurant, or speak real loudly over a crowd.  Plus we had great leftovers!  Zach subsequently missed church and is left with a little stuffy nose.

We plan on going to the PUMPKIN walk over 1,000 pumpkins are carved and lit for three evenings in a row by our Sheriff Office the kids get goodies and at the end we get treats for cheap.  We plan on having everyone that lives nearby(related) join us for the festivities.

I made “Fluffy Raised Doughnuts from scratch with awesome creme fillings, it took 4 hours and the kids licked the frosting off the top and ate the filling out of the centers i think I ate 2 they were good, I just wasn’t in and eating mood, and Nathan had 2 or so.  I think he liked them they were good the dough recipe was great.  it really took a long time and cost a bunch worth all the ingredients for filling, topping etc, we are better off driving 20min round trip to Krispy Kreme.

Aurora liked helping with the frosting and Sierra jumped in to fry decorate and taste,

We made BOO Oreos Nathan’s idea for his Home Teaching. . .homemade of course and added red and yellow food coloring to the buttercream frosting.

1 box Devils food cake
2/3 C shortening
2 eggs

mix roll into balls a little bigger than a marble and bake 8 min 350*.

Nathan took Hailey, Sierra, and I to see

STAR WARS in Concert!

We thought it was going to be all 6 movies condensed to make 1 movie that made sense. instead it was a bunch of montages of clips of certain material, like The romance, The Cantina, Young Anakin, Lea and Luke’s sibling relation, etc. With laser lights, fog, fire poofs, multi color lighting

They played LIVE music to it there were REAL costumes and props from the show inside the hallways, there were actors you could take pictures with, Darth, AniKan Obi One, Jedi, sith, the Emperor etc. but we didn’t bring a camera, i had Sierra bang on a Storm Troopers chest to see if he was in real armor or if it was plastic, we determined plastic ;D

SWINGING

The fall weather has been quite nice. it was terribly cold for a while there’s snow on the top 1/4 of the mountains.  But we have been getting out to play in the yard and swing.

BROCCOLI

Some of you may know that we tried to plant a garden this year.  we got a weird kind of crabgrass in it that when you pull it it’s very hard to get the roots and there were SOOOOO many of them, plus every time i went to garden Aurora would pull out the things that needed to STAY!

SO I just let it go to the weeds. . .and next year maybe we can scrape out all the dirt. build a metal garden surround and fill it with potting soil then use that for our garden ;D

It Sat and sat still getting watered we had 2 corn stocks come up one tried to produce and ear.  and 1 broccoli tower/bush and it’s actually GROWING BROCCOLI on it!  i think we have a cauliflower bush but I’m sure it will freeze before anything grows on it.

Looks like we will be making vegetable cheese soup to show out broccoli we are grateful it grew!

Local amusement park did a haloween thing.  We did the little haunted house for the kids and the terror ride, had funnel cake, hot cocoa and rode a few other rides.

The TRACTOR AND HAY RIDES

WHAT A TRIP!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Devanie @ 12:43 am

I Drove the kids from Utah to Nauvoo, Ill visited Grandma and Grandpa in Missouri, drove thru Iowa, Nebraska, part of Illinois, Wyoming.

Went to and kids enjoyed

Lincoln Children’s Zoo – I HIGHLY RECOMEND

Pony Rides, goat petting, diggn dino bones, climbing web, bird atrium, and FUN LOUD GIBBON MONKEYS!

“ROADY COASTERS” near grandmas house there are roads that feel like you are about to take off, then plummet almost the same height. The kids LOVED them and named them Roady Coasters.

AMISH Auction veggies, mums etc – VERY COLD WEATHER!

Cemetery Stomping – looking around for ancestors graces to take pics of headstones for Genealogy pics Grandpa L is working on.

Brashear, MO looking thru Grandmas “BROKEN” house – what a dump!

Kirksville Missouri Farmers Market – tried “Ground Cherries” for the first time sweet like cherries and a little like tomatoes YUMMY though!

Playin at grandmas on grandpas Hand Truck Dolly and jumping around in the bedroom playing magic tricks with the pack n play and hiding from mom to scare her when she came into the room.

Learning to SEW by hand, Sierra wanted to sew something so we made pillows, and ended up making LOTS of them.  Later we got more fabric continued to hand sew until we got Grandmas BRAND NEW UNOPENED sewing machine up and running – Then Hailey and Sierra started sewing pillows and pillowcases, and beanbags with their  own 2 hands!! we left with 1 pillow and came home with 8 extra and 1 pillowcase!

We visited Nauvoo and saw the temple, got a Horse Drawn wagon ride thru old downtown Nauvoo all the red brick homes and buildings, the kids watched the black smith make prairie diamond rings out of horseshoe nails, and mini horseshoes with hot iron. and were given a horseshoe to remind them to “Follow the Prophet” we also got to go for a ride in a covered wagon pulled by oxen! vERY COOL!

We headed back home early to try to help Grandma and Grandpa get to see Great Grandma Leavitt.  I thought I was gonna head up but decided to head home.  at 4:30 AM in North Platte Nebraska we got to see MaryAnne and Dee and their kids Ryleigh and Dustin.  It was a cold morning so we jumped in their car to visit for a second,  I got a pic with the kids together for a minute and they were heading back to Georgia from their visit with Great Grandma L.

We drove and drove and drove and it until 2 hours from home when THEY DROVE me a little crazy for a second, and then I put in a DVD.  They got a few minutes to play at Little America gas station and get a rock shaped like and animal out of onyx, and an ice cream for 50 cents!  Then they were happy and I was bored. We picked up pizza and ate it with Daddy at 9PM when we arrived safely home.

The house was Beautiful when I walked in the door!

Nathan kept really BUSY Deep Cleaning the whole house, Helping his Brother Aaron on projects, watching football games, going to a movie with Joe and Aaron, Working for work, washing the WALLS and WINDOWS, scrubbing the grout and tiles all thru the upstairs, doing dishes, cleaning counters, buying paint to match our walls and fixing up the dings, de-cluttering the laundry room and coat rack, fixing outlet plug covers, hauling paint buckets downstairs, mopping floors, scrubbing shower floors, preparing his own meals, washing sheets and making beds,

. . .only for us to come home throw all our stuff from the car onto the floor, counter and all over, then decide to trash it up with HALLOWEEN which we decorated for today and he and I and the kids built our HUGE spider web creation thru the main part of the house, along with cleaning up the car from the long adventure and getting ready for more fun activities ALL month long!
